Space Balls!!

Whoo - hoo, NASA has finally grown a pair of Space Balls and are starting to stand up for themselves! I love it.

Orlando Sentinel - NASA has become a transition problem for Obama:

"NASA administrator Mike Griffin is not cooperating with President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team, is obstructing its efforts to get information and has told its leader that she is “not qualified” to judge his rocket program, the Orlando Sentinel has learned.
In a heated 40-minute conversation last week with Lori Garver, a former NASA associate administrator who heads the space transition team, a red-faced Griffin demanded to speak directly to Obama, according to witnesses."

I wonder if 'associate administator' means the same thing at NASA that is does in the regular world - aka Secetary ... if it does, then YES she is unqualified. If however she still needs to hold the degrees, was an actual associate meaning she was PART of what was going on - then she might be qualified.

Now considering that these 'transition' teams are supposed to smooth the changes between administrations -- my guess is that they must have done something to make Griffin feel like his job and/or career is on the line ...

maybe he got hold of that email that said that they (Obama's staff) was going to change the head of NASA - which is his job.

I absolutely hate people who get into places of power and then purposefully look for issues to fire a person over. We had an assistant director at the daycare who used to come into classes everyday ... and that's not an exaggeration either ... and ask "so who did something that they can get fired for today?" and she wasn't joking. It made a terrible work place and put everyone on the edge.

Now we have the President doing it? that's horrid.

Then to top it all off -- it sounds like the Obama team is doing everything they can to damage the reputation of Griffin ... from saying he is being very uncooperative to accusing him of pressuring suppliers to ordering employees not to cooperate ... wow.

and somehow I don't believe a word of what the story says about what went on at the Book Party .... I can't see grown men having a drag-out bitch fight in public where there are reporters and influential people in the industry -- this sounds like both exaggeration and downright lies.

Nope -- I think its the Obama people trying to make stories that aren't really there trying to show they are needed and looking for excuses to get rid of everyone/thing that Bush tried to do.
