Well no DUH!!

"Even before the 33-year-old single, unemployed mother gave birth to octuplets last month, she had been caring for her six other children with the help of $490 a month in food stamps, plus Social Security disability payments for three of the youngsters (that's $793 per child/mo.). The public aid will almost certainly be increased with the new additions to her family."

"Also, the hospital where the octuplets are expected to spend seven to 12 weeks has requested reimbursement from Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program, for care of the premature babies, according to the Los Angeles Times. The cost has not been disclosed." {I heard estimates on the news that it will be at least $1 million, if nothing goes wrong and there aren't any extra care needed for any of the children}

and this is something that the Dr. at the Fertility clinic should have taken into consideration ... but if she is was on county/federal aide -- how the heck did she PAY for her impregnation???

I mean Reproduction is a RIGHT, but doing it thru medical means is a PRIVILEDGE. There was no reason that the doctor could say 'no' at that point ... unless the kids were his. You have to wonder who the 'friend' was who donated the sperm.

Now that is a real question isn't it?

Seems to me that the state should be investigating that ... if she had some hidden assets someplace then the state should go after her to get the money back ... just like they did our neighbor when I was growing up.

When she sold her home after the kids grew up, they went after her to try to get some of the money back.

You know I've said that "Freedom of Choice" also means its okay to keep a child -- but this just doesn't fall into that catagory ... she didn't just get pregnant, she made herself pregnant, to me that means she should have to pay for everything herself.

I have nothing against large families -- I grew up in a family of 7 kids ... and had wished there were more ... but this is bordering on 'psychotic' ... and in an interview she says she still wants MORE children???

The dr is talking about filling out the paperwork to put the mother now on PERMANENT DISABILITY - not that she really qualifies for it but just cause she has so many kids.

Okay -- everyone open your wallets ... since she's getting SSI for 3 of the earlier kids, and unknown number of the new babies ... she will be getting it from ALL of us soon.
