Accept that according to my father who grew up before the depression so he knows it well, according to him before the depression ground meat was going for $1/lb -- which I realize doesn't sound like a lot now, but consider that a postage stamp was 2cents ... consider that you still had the cent key on keyboards (typewriters) ... but that afterwards he said that in just the first year after the depression hit you could get meat for $0.60/lb!"President Obama says unemployment is likely to tick up for several months as the economy recovers from its deepest downturn in decades.
The president said Tuesday that renewed employment typically lags behind other signs of improvement as a swooning economy turns around.
More than 2 million jobs have been lost since Congress passed Obama's $787 billion economic stimulus package. The unemployment rate stands at 9.5 percent, the highest in 26 years.
Obama said the single biggest challenge for the U.S. and other nations is
the creation of enough jobs that pay good wages."
He really feels that this is going to get MUCH worse before it gets better -- he sees too many things that remind him of what it was like just before the Hit last time -- and while he says that Obama is trying to be the Roosevelt of his time, the one thing people need to remember is that Roosevelt didn't have both houses, so there was some good debating going on ...
this time there is no checks/balances ... and the politicians are running amok!
