So here is the question -- why are the First Lady and the President of the United States taking a trip to Denmark to push for the Olympics??
What is the nation is such great standing that the President feels that he can travel all over the world? I guess now we know why he has so many Czars ... they are really the ones running the country.
Is the nation really worse off if the Olympics goes somewhere else? Can we really afford to put money towards the projects needed to get Chicago ready for such a thing?
They will have to build - gasp - new stadiums, hotels, roads, etc. The only ones who will benefit from this are the Chicago politicians and the Unions ....
oh ...
I get it.
Considering the money that gets spent by the Olympic Committee on these places -- why are they doing the Olympics in some of the poorer nations? Just think of the help that money could do for them?
I don't think we need to have another rich city full of corruption getting more money.
Besides -- why would you put the Olympics in a city where it is almost guarentteed that at least once in your life you will be a victim of violent crime?
Geez - they have children killing children in the street.
I would love to see the Olympics simply make the rounds of nations who have athletes in events ... one time go to England, one time go to Japan, one time go to Jamaca, then Finland, how about going to some of those countries where they have just a single athelete because that's all they can afford to send to Games in another country?
The hosting country automatically gets a team in every event -- that means small countries can have a major push for their atheletes ... they are not required to have a team in every sport that I know of, but if they want it, its there. No more minimal exposure.
And if the Olympics were as 'fair' and 'equal' as they say they are, they would do this - just make a rotation schedule putting those countries who have already hosted last on the list (I know, this puts the US towards the bottom) -- but it would help so many countries.
I mean how many of us have heard of the country of Djibouti? or Eritrea? How about Tuvula?
Don't you think that people from the countries of Camaroon, Samoa, and other countires could really use the influx of tourism?
There are countries who are part of the Olympics who never get to see people from other countries - who never get tourists so they are just names on a list, nothing that stands out - think of the global awareness that could be raised.
The last thing they should do is bring the Olympics to another large city/nation.
And MR PRESIDENT -- the last thing you, your wife, or your vice-president should be doing is wasting TAX MONEY to try to get it here. If you want to make an impression then you should be teleconferencing it - not POLLUTING and adding to your CARBON FOOTPRINT and adding to GLOBAL WARMING/CLIMATE CHANGE (had to throw those liberal terms back at him)
