Bit of background ... if you don't know Sharon Tate or seen any of her movies, you might remember her as the most prominent murder at the hands of the Manson Family. She was pregnant at the time, Roman I believe was off somewhere making a movie and Sharon was home with some famiy firends ... either way he wasn't there due to circumstances which is how he survived ... everyone else was absolutely slaughtered. My mother was obsessed with the case, but I don't remember her telling me how the police found the bodies or how it was traced back to the Manson cult.
Well Debra was being interviewed this morning and she made one of the stupidest, most offensive remark I have heard from a woman ....
"there's rape and then there's rape"
WHAT???
Lets get a bit of info out there --- this girl was 13 yrs old (now I've seen some pretty mature looking 13 yr olds but you can still tell they are not grown women) .... he gave her barbituates & other drugs ... he gave her wine to get her drunk ... then when she couldn't fight back he took her.
THAT'S RAPE
He made sure that she had no way she could have gotten away. Even if he hadn't known she was 13 -- he would have known that what he was doing was rape.
Its like a girl going to a frat party and passing out drunk and waking up to find a bunch of guys on her ... would we say 'there's rape and then there's rape'? NO - the boys should have known better.
Her other reason for supporting him was because he was a 'brilliant film maker' ... oh okay ... hmmm ... I guess that is supposed to give him a pass of some sort.
She also mentioned some deal made in the 1970's where he was to be incarcerated for 4 months while under going psychiatric evaluation - which showed that he was not a pediphile - so since he did that she felt he served his time.
Then why did he run???? Because he knew he wasn't done with this .... he knew the case wasn't going to go away ... he knew what he did was wrong ... and he knew that since he was not found to be a pediphile in the 1970s, instead of spending a couple of months in a psychiatric ward of some high priced hospital he was going to have to serve time in PRISON.
Things were very different in the 70's ... pediphilia was concidered a curable mental disease - and had he met the standards he would never had seen the inside of a jail ... they would have 'treated' him and let him back out (he would have been a level 1 or 2). But without a dr saying that his actions were beyond his control, it would mean that he had willful knowledge that what he was doing was wrong, and there would have been a full rape trail asking why he felt the need to incapacitate the girl before initiating sex.
Debra Tate felt that he couldn't get a fair trial in America (gee wonder why) and that the case would be better procecuted in France -- REALLY?? -- is that what you think? I mean really deep down ... you think that his victim should have to live these last 30 yrs with the knowledge that her attacker was able to run away, that she should have to live in her 'prison' - but that he should be able to stay in France and have them decide whether sex with a 13 yr old was rape?
You've got to be joking .... Legal age of consent has been set at 15 there - and there was no 'real age of consent' until the mid-1970s ...it didn't become an issue until around 1977 when there was a movement to overturn a statute which punished those found jailed for having relations with children under 15 yrs.
She (Debra Tate) spoke about how it was a waste of tax payer money to pursue a 30 yrs old case ... yeah ... and I'm sure you also feel that it was a waste of tax payers money to keep that lady from the Manson family in jail even though she was dying of brain cancer (it wasn't like she was going to hurt anyone, right?) - - but you made sure to mention that you were at her very last parole hearing just a month before her death to make sure she stayed there.
[as she should have ... a Life sentence, should mean a Life sentence ... in my thinking]
BUT the most enlightening thing I heard .... she has been in regular contact with this criminal for the last 30 yrs!!!! She could have, at any time, helped the authorities get this man and make him return to complete his trial!!!
SHE SHOULD BE ARRESTED AS AN ACCESSORY -- AS A CO-CONSPIRATOR TO COMMIT A CRIME!!
How does one woman do this to another????
HE RAPED HER --- and goodness knows how many others who can't remember
