Well isn't this just ducky ... you know I've always said that you can tell how close a news story is by how big a denial you get.
Well now tax payer money is being used to attack Fox -- on a White House blog site which accused Fox of lying. Hey - that's not what I pay my taxes for (well okay, its not what my husband pays our taxes for).
I used to think it was kind of suspicious that on Fox News Sunday they would bring up all sorts of stuff but never have someone from the White House on there to defend points .... now I know why --
The White House has barred Fox News from getting any Administration officials as guests -- this means that they don't want to defend themselves directly to the 'accusers' OR that they cant defend themselves against what is being brought up.
It has even gotten to the point where the President made sure that he appeared on 5 Sunday news talk shows - and Fox was not one of them (even though it would have been broadcast on network wavelengths).
They say later that day though the CEO of Fox went to lunch with David Axelrod, the WH Sr. Advisor .... basically to say if Fox didn't back off they wouldn't ever have a WH official and no one would watch their network then.
Ms. Dunn (WH Communications Chief) said that Obama will go back on Fox news but wouldn't give a date .... yeah right .... as long as they only ask the questions you want asked right? and only talk about the things you want talked about? and give you a list of subjects/questions ahead of time so the President can learn the canned answers instead of just speaking the truth?
I have to say that I love how Fox News has related this "freeze out" of the media to Richard Nixon after the Pentagon Papers came out .... hmmmm, maybe they know something we haven't found out about yet .... maybe.
So they also point out that Fox is the highest watched cable news network going right now ... but they did mischaracterize their programming. They said that it was straight news until evening when they have the opinion shows which are sometimes harsh of the administration and sometimes even favorable.
aaaaaaahhhhh - no.
If you ever listen to the early morning shows (5-12n my time) they are pretty well peppered with opinion as well. Yes they are mostly about news & facts, but they have quite a bit of opinion/editorials at the same time. And the evening shows ... yeah they are pretty anti-Democrat on the whole == although they don't seem to be going after POTUS as much as the Dem party in general (but then if people would pay attention, they would too).
Now should we mention that the White House uses all the other networks to bash Fox -- and they don't seem to care about it. Yet MSNBC gets their cockles in a bunch whenever Fox brings them up in their programs (especially Bill O'Reilly) ... in fact if you ever watch "Count Down with Keith Olbermann" (you know the guy that got shit-canned by Fox [Sports] for spreading unfounded rumors?) you will find that in his "stupidest person in the world" segment he has O'Reilly listed as #1 more than any other person ... and for reasons less 'stupid' than those beneath OReilly -- maybe Olbermann ought to put himself up there a few times.
But I have totally digressed here.
So here's the points ...
1. Tax Payer money should not be used to push a particular political agenda ... donations yes ... tax money no.
2. The White House, if they are truly interested in 'transparency', should be giving all the stations/media/newspapers equal time.
Something is rotten in Denmark ... oops, sorry ... the Olympic story is done.
