NASA says that the earthquake in Chile was so powerful that they figure it shifted the earth's axis (I'm assuming they mean the tilt and not actual magnetic location thru the earth) by 3 inches ... but this in turn shorten the length of our day .... but I haven't heard by how much.
I do recall that they said the same thing about the earthquake in Sumatra 5-6 yrs ago ...
but I think the earth wound up straightening things back out on its own ...
or else -- this could just be a natural part of the earth's life cycle ... and there just isn't anything we can do about it.
Lets remember too that they figure the Earth is ready for a polar shift -- we may have inadvertately stumbled upon the way it will happen:
Massive quake after massive quake until the world begins to tilt ... btw - when (if) this happens there will be an increase in storms, weird weather patterns, wacky goings on in the skies (day & night), and eventually people will start to say that the 'world is going to end' ....
no its not "Global Warming" or "Climate Change" .... its "Terrestrial Growing Pains"
Live with it ....
or move to Mars ....
oh wait - you can't .....
Obama cut the funds for all that sort of thing.
