that's the call from the FDA because they say they can't do anything to 'prevent' a massive breakout ... that they can only react after it happens, like this months salmonella outbreak.
they are blaming it on two farms now .... but whats making it harder is that companies actually get their eggs from several farms and its hard to tell eggsacly (sorry couldn't resist) which farm they came from.
recall of eggs are now in the following states:
CA
OR
WA
NV
UT
AZ
CO
ND
SD
NE
KS
OK
TX
MN
IA
MO
AR
WI
IL
IN
OH
GA
from just these two farms and the half-billion eggs they produced ....
dang ...
my kids LOVE fried egg sandwiches ....
you can't beat it for a quick dinner or fast breakfast ....
not anymore ....
and they hate hard-boiled unless its in potato salad ....
the first farm in Wright Co. Iowa was found to have several previous violations over 16 yrs, amongst which were:
- manure run-0ff
- electrical hazards
- bacteria exposure
- animal cruelty
- sexual abuse (don't know if it was involving the chickens though)
Americans eat 47 billion eggs a year
eggs need to get to at least 140*F degrees for now until they are sure the supply is clean again ....
wonder if they will do what they did with tomatoes and pull them off the shelves for now ... and then when they come back charge you an arm & leg to put them on - making them an "extra" or "side" again ....
not nice.
