Not Me and I Don't Know - they live in England too I guess ...

BP Internal Report
8SEPT2010
" ... A complex and interlinked series of mechanical faliures, human judgments, engineering design, operational implementation and team interfaces came together to allow the initiation and escalation of the accident.  Multiple companies, work teams and circumstances were involved over time."
Deepwater Horizon Accident
Investigation Report 9/8

So if they weren't feeling any guilt over this ... why did they give-in and put money into that acct. for 'victims' ...

I'm sorry ... I have a little less sympathy on this end of it - being a fisherman is hard enough ... there is no GUARANTEE that they are going to make their catch or quota - unless they are corporate strip-miners of the sea - BUT this fund assumes that they would be able to always make their bills being a fisherman ... they would always have a steady paycheck ... that their equipment worked perfectly fine ...

I have an issue with that -- yet I feel really bad for them too ... because of the accident they didn't even have the CHANCE to go out and make a living ... they definately wouldn't make their bills/house payment/equipment payments/etc because of the "oopsy-daisy' of BP ...

I'm torn ...

but by the same token .... I don't think the President had any business going after the company - that is the job of the court system, not POTUS ... and yes - like Michelle Bachman called it - it was governmental 'extortion' ...

make no bones about it ... BP was told that if they didn't give up the funds that they would have big issues ... and you know darned well that they would have been found to be solely at fault during the senate hearings - they would have lost all rights to dirll any where on the North continental shelf (obama would have pressured the other nations to deny them as well) - they would have been destroyed!

That is economic 'extortion' by any terms ... this should have been allowed to go to court, not handled by the government which is going to raid that fund for 'administration' fees ... just wait and see ...

or that will pull the bone-head move of handing all the money out right away (like they did with the 9/11 funds) and then years down the line there won't be anything there for those who truly need it ... and those that got the millions won't give any of it back or even donate funds to help out.
(shame on all those 9/11 widows who did that, btw ... they've got the funds to help the First Responders suffering from 9/11syndrome but they aren't helping) == ugh tangent!

Instead of trying to break the company ...

what the Hearings should have done was say "that's it -- we need to have ONE company responsible for things ... we can't have a spiders web of companies that can sit here and point the finger at everyone else" -- because that is what happened you know, everyone went 'not me' and 'I dont know' ...

But then most congresspeople --- Dem & Rep --- have the corporations so far up their butts they have to feel like they are getting scoped ... so instead of straightening this crap out ... they just make more beauacracy to convolute it more ...

and BOTH parties are to blame for the current problem ...

so stop pointing the finger to one side or the other people ...

its like working with a bunch of kids --- you have to realize that it takes two people/sides to have an issue.
