Okay - so I'm trying to clear out my screen shots file, when I came across this photo which I was going to comment that gee they have very little confidence in Congress to keep things under control no matter who was in charge.
Then I started noticing that the major jumps seemed to happen during wartimes ... Civil War, World War 1, WW2 ... but not so much for the Korean nor the Vietnam Nam wars - or as my high school best friend's husband used to say "Police Action" ....
But THIS caught my eye:
The 20 year portion is from 1990 (Clinton) - 2010 (Obama)
This shows that during GEORGE W. BUSH's presidency our budget actually went DOWN and under Obamacare it went back UP again - and yes it is still building under Trump ... but this includes 9/11!! And the wars with both Afghanistan and Iraq!!
So, the House passes the Law, the Senate controls the Purse Strings ... my question is - does the President have the right to deny a budget???
And when was the last time an actual BUDGET was passed and they didn't have to pass some Continuing Resolution to keep the government open???
Interesting bit of info though ....
