Inver Grove Heights, MN -- estimated population in 2018 was over 35,000 squished into a total sea of around 30 square miles (less than 28 sq mi is actual land), that's a little less than 1,300 people per square mile ... they have businesses & stores, they even have a large community college there (my husband and all my kids have gone there) ... so while it's no mpls or St. Paul, it isn't exactly Hicksville either -- as a matter of fact the farm folk are smarter than the non-farm folk
Any how -- unless you live in one of their few apartment buildings (but it's growing) you have a fairly good distance between houses - imagine a block in the city with 1/2 - 2/3 the houses gone, that's the minimal distance between neighbors {gotta love breathing room!}
This all has a point ... this is a story where a GUN may have helped.
Now I only heard part of the report so please take it with a grain of salt (my father-in-law has to have his tv on very loudly to hear it - like at level 50)
A 14 yr old boy came home and found a man in his home robbing the place, his mother was hurt and on the floor bleeding. The boy was then attacked ny the man , but the boy got away and ran to a neighbor's to get help, and supposedly the man attacked the mother some more ... while the neighbor was on the phone with 911 the kid got a hold of a knife and ran back home and attacked the man
They say the robber will live, his wounds were not life threatening ...
The mother's wounds are so severe they don't know if she will ever look the same again, she is in ICU
The boy -- well people are calling no him a hero ... I think he might be getting called a defendant here pretty soon.
After all, once he left the house he was out of danger - he then not only went back but also took a deadly weapon which he used to attack the man.
I'm hoping the Courts - if this case comes before them - toss it out on its ear!
