I was watching this news report on You Tube today ...<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/uvudQ-mGBr0" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
And if you listen carefully, about marker 1:37 the Secretary of US Ag starts blowing the Democrat agenda line up the famers proverbial skirts when the report metions:
"... he believes Transportation and Infrastructure bills should make it easier for farmers to sell their products AND hire IMMIGRANT workers - allowing them to better weather a drought ..."
WAIT -- did you catch the two puffs of smoke there?
1)the Infrastructure & Transportation bills will do NOTHING to help the farmers NOW ... and even in the future when the money gets spent, the MAJORITY of it will go to the larger communities in the states ... any money for Rail has been earmarked for AMTRAK!
2)apparently the AG guy is operating under 2 misconceptions: the first being that farmers aren't ALREADY employing immigrants (many are, but not all) and he assumes that the farmer will be able to pay immigrant workers LESS than American born workers .... um ... no - Minimum wage is minimum wage for everybody no matter where they come from.
I have noticed over the last 20+ years that according to the AG department, nothing happens above the I-90 corridor - that is Austin, MN is about as far north as the look even though we have farms all the way up to International Falls
