Happy New Years to Everyone who reads my posts ... if there are actually people who read my posts. This blog certainly has evolved from its beginnings as a simple crafting blog. In fact it is nearly totally commentary now ... mostly on the news.
I was watching Good Morning America today and realized that the woman they had doing the morning news made a very "american" mistake.
She was speaking of firework displays at the stroke of midnight and how is all got started in Australia (ineresting, since I do believe the international date line is about an hour earlier, but I likely am wrong).
She said the fireworks fook place at the Sydney Opra House ...
Yes - that was the way she said it "Op-ra" ... not "Op-era" (as I was taught to say it growing up in Minnesota).
This type of thing will oftem make me stop and rewind (rarely watch anything Live anymore) ... and sure enough, usually someone has said something wrong ... put a local dialect upon it ...
I suspect we will be seeing quite a few of these during the New Year posted on here ... I'm fussy like this.
My oldest daughter used to do it all the time ... and not just as a kid, even in college she's say "I've gotta pay my intuition" or the like...even thought about starting a blog of Kid-isms ... but just couldn't do it - didn't want to embarrass the kids in public.
We all do it though ... even I used to tell the kids when they were bickering that they needed to knock it off or I was going to "have a cow" ... the local saying is "have kittens" ... I don't know what the difference is though - I would think having a cow would make you crankier. But my In-Laws took great pleasure in the way I said it ... and my last child came home from the hospital in a cow costume.
Any how -- I've prattled on long enough ...
Happy New Year once again.
