Ironically, you have to get past the "commercial" within the video to get to the actual briefings from the attorney's ... so go to the second half of the video to hear why Texas believes it has the Right o defend the southern border ... and why the Federal government says it does not.
Even more ironic -- it means, as Roman says in the video, it means the National Guard cannot protect the nation from within their borders ... nor can the Border Patrol control the actual International Borders with neither Mexico, nor Canada, by these arguments.
Even more ironic -- most Americans think of Texans as being backward - that is, tobacco chewing, guitar strumming, cattle rustlers from the 1800s ... hell, they've even made a holiday surrounding when Texas finally got the news about freeing the slaves "Juneteenth" (let's not get me started on the stupidity of this holiday, issue being timing, not the reason for the holiday)
Yet, the Texas legal briefing did not read like a rant from Festus (Gunsmoke, CBS 195? - 197?) nor does he sound like JR Ewing (Dallas, CBS 1980-?) -- it stated exactly which parts of the Constitution were being inforced, what action triggered what, it was very concise and accurate.
The Federal government's briefing, by the sound of it, didn't contain any of these things.
It will be interesting to see what happens from here.
There were also several steps inbetween the feds not being allowed to cut the "concertina" wire - which is a general term for coiled wire which is then stretched across a spanse and which will return to its original shape once the ends are released from the grounding points ... it could be barbed wire (ends of wire sticking out) or razor wire (razor blades woven in) or even what jewlers call Memory Wire (smooth wire used to make bracelets, rings, chokers) - its all concertina wire
I haven't heard any of the stuff between the attempt to remove the wire to the Supreme Court before ...
