You see, the Attorney General's race in Virginia has become that "toxic" ....
Democratic canidate, J. Jones, sent a text .... in Aug. 2022 - so it was 3 yrs ago - which was about then State House Speaker, Todd Gilbert ... the text contained the phrase "3 people, 2 bullets. Gilbert, Hitler, and pul pot" (likely I did not hear that last one correctly) and it continued ... "Gilbert gets 2 bullets to the head."
Oh my!
Well, when that came to light - it was explosive - right away, the Republican running against him put out an ad pointing out the tests ....
Wait - he wasn't done yet ... he went on to wish Gilbert's wife could watch as her child died in her arms ...
VILE!!!
The ad then went on to post some 15 different news organizations - big ones, not tiny online places - such as the Washington Post, and ABC, CBS, FOX affiliates ....
Jones has come out with a statement:
"I have reached out to Speaker Gilbert to apologize directly to him, his wife Jennifer, and their children. I cannot take back what I said; I can only take full accountability and offer my sincere apology"
Now imagine how this would have went if the shoe was on the other foot .... if it had been the Republican who had written those texts .... They would be calling for the guy to drop out right away ...
But - in Virgina, it is my understanding, that the desicion would have been made something like 60 days before voting day - this is only some 30 days away ....
So, he is not dropping out of the race ... in fact, they have stepped it up .... labeling the issue as a "racist tactic" ... what?? Dude, you wished this man dead!
Let's remember, this is for the office of ATTORNEY GENERAL of Virginia .... this person is supposed to be the best LAWYER in the state .... they are supposed to be upright and outstanding ... and had Jones not written the texts in question, he very welll could have been.
All but for a 10 second pause - likely, he wouldn't have sent it.
