Foggy day

okay, my day started before 6am this morning, yesterday did too. I have to get my kids back into their routine for school...all but the college kid that is...so I had to wake up my 11 yr old by 6am so he will learn to be up, motivated, dressed, eaten, washed, and packed up by 6:45am to catch his bus for school...if that's when his bus is coming, that's the old pick up time, we won't find out the current pick up time until a few days before school starts so I can argue with transportation about picking up my kids on the 55mph highway again this year....they are redoing all the bus routes this year so who knows, they may be getting picked up at 6am for an hours ride like they used to do at the old house.

anyways....went up half awake found my oldest daughter (a morning person, usually up by 5:30am) was still sleeping too. Now the first thing she has to do in the morning before anything else, including potty, is put the puppy out....Addy is only 8 months old so holding it for 1/2hr after dad gets off to work with out messing the pen I think is all we can really expect from her at this point. So I went to wake up my daughter who in her sleep thought I was one of the kids and started flailing her arms....she flailed me, I flailed back, it was self defence (its a potter routine, you have to know it)....anyhow she wasn't too pleased with me.

So while I'm chuckling to myself, and still half asleep, I went to go into the boys room to wake up the younger one when I bounced into the fan which they had put into the middle of their doorway. Okay so I moved it out of the way just enough to get thru, it was pretty determined to stay where it was and only leaned to one side....and stepped on Mage Knights and army guys in my bare feet. I managed to find enough clean floor space to tip toe over to my son's bed and poke him awake.

Worked my way thru the "landmines" again and found my daughter had fallen back to sleep...so I had to rouse her again until she began to move...bothered her until she sat up in bed...I didn't have to see the dirty look, I know it was there. So rather satisfied I went back into the hallway to find....son still asleep.

Now its 6:20am....I can't be nice about this...if he misses the bus I don't drive and hubby can't be taking time off every morning to be driving his butt to school. I decided I was NOT going to wrestle with their doorway sentinal again, so I throttled it by the throat and forced it to move aside (well I was gentle, do you know how hard it is to find a fan that lasts more than a year these days?)....the sun was just starting to brighten the fog outside, morning twilight had begun...in the haze there he lay...so peaceful....flat on his stomach.

His body moving up & down gently with his breathing. His little head nestled gently upon his pillow.

I crossed the room, damn the landmines, if soldiers lost the battle I didn't care. I grabbed him in both armpits and gave a good shake! I wasn't mad, just determined. There he was up. He sat up in bed and looked at me "what the heck?!" he said....I told him the time, told him the day, told him how much vacation he had left and that he needed to be downstairs in 10 minutes.

Worked my way out of the room to come face to face with my daughter who had just decided she didn't want more of the same and dashed down the steps to get the dog. I'm still half asleep at this point...no coffee yet. Gargoyle on Duty!!

I went down, turned on my computer to see if there were any new trivia/homework from the hogwarts group and while the computer pulled up I thought I'd sit and finish waking up listening to some music. So I plopped in my rocking chair (in another room), turned on the radio for local news and pulled out my iPod. Looked at the sock I'm making and thought "nope I have got to wake up more before I tackle that" and preceded to plug in. Mind you this was before 7am. Turned on my playlist which consists of The Who, Aerosmith, and various songs to pump up my blood in the morning.

At 9am I woke up to find....yeah, I fell asleep in the chair....my son....sleeping on the couch next to me. What a pair we must have made....me sleeping sitting in the rocking chair, him curled on the couch buried under the throw pillows so I wouldn't see him...my daughter, the one who took out the dog, fell asleep in the family room on the big comfy chair....my littlest daughter curled up in her dad's rocking chair and took a short nap too. I let them all sleep...heck its just that kind of day I guess.

My oldest? Took advantage of the whole situation and jumped on his computer, raided the ice-box, and who knows what else....he didn't say a word. He just walked past me as quiet as can be. Smart kid.

So it has been just a foggy day with no signs of changing any time soon...but I have got to get enough caffine in my system to shake this off so I can work on those socks! I hate cuffs.
