Nicolas Cage will rule box office for 3rd weekend Entertainment Film Reuters
Karasotes Theaters have already placed this movie on their discount $5 anytime list...with their special saver card (check out their site to get one, their FREE).
Harry Potter took over a month to show up.....Sweeny Todd is already one there.
We use it as a gauge as to how "popular" a movie is up here....2 weeks, discounted--really BAD movie.
Bee Movie was discounted at the end of its mandatory 2 week showing period.
Say did you know that??? I picked up this peice of knowledge someplace....
Movie Theater chains (such as Karasotes) have contracts with the studios that they MUST run a movie for 2 weeks before they are allowed to discount or remove them from their line-up. This means that for smaller theaters (like those few that have only 4 screens--like the theater I like the best...love small theaters) could actually LOSE money during the run of a really rotten movie....like "Rocky" or "Norbert"....but they still have to let it run.
This is so bad....it is killing the little theater....they just can't keep their heads above water. The big complexes with 16+ screens can do so much better during those slim times...
Anyways...If Cage's movie is #1 this weekend it will be because of the combination of the cheap price and the fact that there really isn't anything of quality out there anymore.
