"While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a 'kingmaker,' Axelrod said, 'I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them.'"
So someone had put a clip of this interview up on You Tube ... and boom, right after this story came out the video has been yanked from the site -- so the word can't get out (can we say 'media black out'?) and the following statements were released:
Axelrod this evening issued a statement saying:Ahhh, so .... were you lying then or are you lying now?"I was mistaken when I told an interviewer last month that the President-elect has spoken directly to Governor Blagojevich about the Senate vacancy. They did not then or at any time discuss the subject."
After all, the statement was allowed to stand for a month without correction, then suddenly BOOM - 'oops, i was wrong' -- NO it doesn't work that way.
I mean, look at the quote -- what he said is that the Pres-elect didn't chose anyone in particular ... which is less corruptive than what the Gov. has said about it. Although it does look like Obama may have had a stake in things as well ... making one wonder what he was getting out of it.
C'mon -- this is Chicago politics ... and it is not the first time that Obama has been linked to some sort of corruption or questionable acts involving his politics. Why can people not see this man for what he really is?
Just another politician and no Golden Child??
You wait --- my guess is that those candidates for the senate seat will be Obama insiders .... wait and see!
